I tell you more, also the European Union as such could accede to this Convention. It is explicitly foreseen.

I call on you to join me and the other members of the Parliamentary Network “Women Free from Violence”

to become ambassadors of the Istanbul Convention, and put pressure on national governments on the one

hand, and on the European Commission on the other to ensure that the Istanbul Convention becomes our

common gold standard, our law, our Constitution for a society based on equality and human rights.
