CHAPTER VI FINAL PROVISIONS

ARTICLE 28 PROTOCOL

The attached Protocol shall form an integral part of the present Convention.

ARTICLE 29 ENTRY INTO FORCE

1. The Contracting States shall notify each other in writing, through diplomatic channels, that the procedures required by its law for the entry into force of this Convention have been satisfied. The Convention shall enter into force thirty days after the date of receipt of the last notification. 2. This Convention shall be applicable:

a) In Portugal:

i) In respect of the taxes withheld at source, the fact giving rise to them appearing on or after the first day of January of the calendar year next following the year in which this Convention enters into force;

ii) In respect of the other taxes, as to income arising in any fiscal year

beginning on or after the first day of January of the calendar year next following the year in which this Convention enters into force;

b) In Cyprus:

i) In respect of taxes withheld at source, to income derived on or after

the first day of January of the calendar year next following the year in which this Convention enters into force;

ii) In respect of other taxes on income, to taxes chargeable for any

taxable year beginning on or after the first day of January of the calendar year next following the year in which the Convention enters into force.
